The Smoke House Bay Bridge![]() Work on the bridge began July 14, 2014 and was originally scheduled for completion on July 22, 2015. Obviously we missed the completion date, now city officials say the project will likely be completed November 25th. The original price tag for the project was $8.2 million, however there is a liquidate-damage clause in the contract at $6,042 per day for every day the project is over schedule. However there are change orders and rain days that will have to be included before a final price for the project can be determined. The Marriott![]() The Marriott was closed May 3, 2015 and reopened August 1, 2015 with 716 guest rooms. The Marriott is scheduled to debut January 1, 2017 as the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort with an additional 94 rooms bringing the total capacity to 810 rooms. For a detailed overview of the construction, time lines and press releases of the project you can go to http://www.jwmarco.com/ Marco Offshore Reef![]() When the project is complete there will be 6 legacy reefs of which Marco will have 2. The work began this January and is scheduled for completion late this summer. The project will be funded by donations along with a $1.3 billion dollar grant from the PB Oil Recovery Fund. The Marco Legacy Reefs will be named for the numerous donors.
